Anti-wrinkle Treatments

Now, did you know that we aren’t allowed to say the word "Botox"? As you may or may not be aware Botox is a prescription only medication and it is very poor practice and actually ILLEGAL to advertise a particular brand of prescription medication! That’s why you never see an advert on TV for your favourite inhaler or blood pressure medication. We know that this is a word that can not be thrown around as a practitioner but this is how it is well known, you say Botox and people know you mean injections that make you wrinkle free. This is one of 3 brands that is available in the UK, the others being Azzalure and Bocouture.

So from now on we will refer to it as its chemical name...Botulinum Toxin A…but call it what you prefer, we know what you mean!

Now to talk scientifically, the way a muscle contracts is by the release of a chemical called Acetylcholine that attaches to the muscles. When we inject the toxin this stops the production of the chemical meaning the muscles won’t be able move.

It has been used in medicine for a long time and is used nowadays to treat migraines, muscle tightness, post strokes and for Parkinsonism patients.

The areas that we treat are the forehead, crows feet and frown lines. In particular where lines are created when we laugh, smile or get angry.

BELOW ARE EXAMPLES OF IT IN ACTION
